Description
Netherurd House is a small Georgian mansion built between 1791 and 1794, originally commissioned by William Lawson of Cairnmuir and later owned by John White of Drumelzier. It is situated within wooded grounds and is approached over a bridge. The original house is a three-storey building with an attic. The principal facade features a pediment and a centrally placed pilastered doorway, with a Palladian window positioned above the doorway. A Victorian wing extends from the rear of the building and finishes with a small square turret. The original fabric is constructed of random rubble masonry, with yellow sandstone dressings. The building has undergone alterations and enlargements at various times and is currently used by the Girl Guides Association.
