Description
The stables at Mossburnford House date from the late 18th century and have undergone some alterations. They form part of a former U-plan farmstead and consist of a single and two-storey L-plan range. The building is constructed from cream rubble sandstone with droved ashlar dressings, featuring boarded doors and a grey slate roof.
The northern range includes a two-storey, four-bay structure with a piend roof, situated on sloping ground. The courtyard side has a pair of broad blocked segmental arches on the left, with three doors and one window at ground level, and one door and one window above. The end elevations feature a window to the west and blocked beeboles to the east. The outer elevation has a door and two windows at ground level, along with two doors and four ventilation slits for the loft, topped by a brick wallhead stack. The upper windows are fixed small-pane types above louvred lower sections.
The eastern range is a single-storey, two-bay bothy with a piend roof and a ridge ventilator. Its courtyard elevation has a door with flanking windows to the right, while a door on the left has been blocked and converted into a window. The other elevations are blank. Immediately to the south is a detached single-storey garage with a piend roof and two-leaf doors facing east. A mounting block is located to the right of the garage door.
To the south of the steading, there are ruins adjoining the coped northern wall of the walled garden.
