Description
The remains of a rectangular-plan church, which includes a nave and chancel, are located in the churchyard of the Old Parish Church in Simprim. The church was dedicated in 1247, with a bell and steeple added in 1756, but it was abandoned in 1761. The structure is built from squared sandstone rubble with rubble dressings. The eastern gable is nearly intact, featuring a chamfered surround to a blocked, round-arched opening in the outer elevation, and there is a plaque centered in the inner elevation. There are remnants of a wall to the north, with little remaining to the south or west.
The graveyard contains various sandstone gravestones arranged in irregular rows, including 18th-century stones with memento mori and table-top monuments. The boundary wall, which is rubble-coped and encloses the near square-plan site (with a rounded corner to the southeast), features a timber gate. To the right of the entrance, there is a wall-mounted post box marked 'GR'.
