Description
Kinfauns Castle is a large castellated mansion designed by Sir Robert Smirke and dated 1825. It is constructed of droved ashlar and features two storeys with three-storey towers, exhibiting an asymmetrical composition. The south frontage measures 160 feet, while the east frontage is 233 feet and includes a porte cochere. There is also a large terrace with angle bastions.
Inside, the castle has a fine Gothic east corridor, and the public rooms remain largely unaltered, showcasing good plasterwork and a very fine library. The staircase and first-floor corridor were replaced in the Scots-Renaissance style around 1912 by Deas.
