Description
Newton Of Condie is a large ruined mansion that was burnt in 1866 and has several construction dates. The building is designed in an L-plan. The southeast tower house is likely from the 16th century, with a stair jamb that seems to have been added or rebuilt, possibly in the early 17th century. The southwest wing was originally a two-storey, five-window structure with a moulded doorpiece, but it has largely collapsed, leaving only the gable. The north wing is probably from the late 18th century and features a two-storey, five-bay design with slightly advanced centre and end sections. The ground floor windows are set in arched recesses, and there is an arched central door flanked by narrow windows. The central first floor has been lost. The building is constructed of rubble with droved dressings.
