Description
Erlston House is a two-storey building dating from around 1840 to 1850, possibly designed by W. Burn. It features crow-stepped dormer heads on the first floor and has a three-window main front that projects at the centre, topped with a gable and a gable-hooded doorpiece. The design is asymmetrical, with the western part of the frontage set back. A square sundial, dated 1733 (or possibly 1737), is mounted on a wrought iron bracket at the corner of the building.
In addition, there is a large extension built between 1909 and 1910 by Alexander Buttar of Condie Mackenzie and Co., which was completed by John Duff of the same firm. This extension includes a single-storey office building that is harled with margins and remains from the previous manse.
