Description

The Smithy, located on St Ninian's Wynd in Dunkeld, dates from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is a two-storey building with a lower outhouse wing that is positioned at right angles to the main structure. The eastern part of the main building features one window and a combination of stone and wood forestair with a pentice roof. The main section has four windows and a central door on the laigh floor, while the upper level includes two windows and a central door with a railed forestair above. The west gable has a small slated gambrel outshot that extends over the roof of the outhouse. This building is part of a former inn complex and is constructed from local rubble, with a slated roof and large chimney heads, including one wallhead chimney located at the back.
