Description
Grandtully Castle is an A-listed building featuring a 3 to 4 storey Z-plan layout with square towers. The castle includes a large circular staircase tower that occupies the western re-entrant angle of the southwest tower. It is constructed from rubble and dates back to the late 16th century, with alterations made in 1626, including the raising of the tower with dormers and a slated ogee capping. A significant addition was made around 1890, which includes a 4-storey section with swept dormer heads at the third floor and a 5-storey corner tower, designed by architects Leadbetter and Fairley. Additionally, there are fragments of a barmekin fitted with wrought-iron gates, designed by architect R.S. Lorimer in 1895.
