Description
Craigmarloch Stables is a former stable building dating from around 1820, located near a former basin of the Forth and Clyde Canal. This two-storey, seven-bay structure features a symmetrical rectangular plan and is designed in a classical style, highlighted by a central pediment with a blind oculus. The building is a consolidated ruin, reaching up to the wallhead, and is constructed from droved buff sandstone ashlar, with rubble on the sides and back. It has margined quoins and segmental-headed openings, most of which have been bricked up, with raised margins, stone cills, and a continuous eaves cornice capping. The central entrance door is flanked by doors in the penultimate left and far right bays. Additionally, there is a single door on the east elevation and two small windows on the lower rear elevation.
