Description
The Garrison, located on Glasgow Street in Millport on Great Cumbrae Island, was originally built by James Crawford, the Captain of the Revenue cutter Royal George. It was later purchased and enlarged by the Earl of Glasgow. This long, low mansion features battlements, gables, and Gothic finials, and currently serves as the Burgh offices. The building is set within a walled garden that is accessed through Gothic archways.
