Description
The Corrie Hotel, located on the Isle of Arran, is a mid-19th century building with an addition dated 1899. It consists of a single storey and attic section, a two-storey and attic section, and a later single storey range built on higher ground at the rear, all forming a loose L-plan. The exterior is constructed from stugged and snecked rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a grey slate roof. Notable architectural details include a base course, margined angles, saw-tooth coped skews, and ashlar-coped skews on the 1899 range, along with modern coping on the ashlar stacks. The windows are timber sash and case, featuring 4- and 8-pane designs with painted ashlar margins.
On the front elevation, there are three bays to the right, with a later single storey shouldered-gable bay that is advanced to the centre, showcasing a 3-light canted window. The left return has paired bipartite windows, while the right return features a bipartite window and a door. The main elevation includes bipartite windows on both the left and right sides, three pedimented dormerheads, two small segmental dormers, and a rooflight. To the left, there is a single storey and attic bay with a bipartite window and two piend-roofed dormers. The 1899 range on the higher ground to the far left has a flat-roofed porch with multi-pane glazing that conceals the original entrance, two windows to the right, a keystoned oculus, and a tall stack on the left return elevation, with a cut-down stack on the right.
The right return elevation features three bays to the right, with a door and fanlight at the centre, a bipartite window to the left, and a single window to the right. The first floor has three windows, along with two gabled dormers and a small round-headed dormer. There are modern additions to the right, while the left gable has three windows on the ground and first floors, and a narrow window in the attic.
The interior has not been seen.
