Taigh an t-Seoladair, Holiday Cottage, Gearrannan Blackhouse Village

Gearrannan Blackhouse Village consists of a group of nine single-storey, Hebridean-type crofthouses, built along either side of a narrow road leading down towards the machair. These buildings likely date from the late 19th century and were occupied until the 1970s. In the late 20th century, the crofthouses were restored, with some being rebuilt. The group includes a museum of crofting life, a youth hostel, self-catering holiday accommodation, a shop and café, an office, and associated amenities.

The crofthouses feature battered rubble walls with a mix of rounded and squared corners. All have straw-thatched roofs secured with netting, rope, and weighting stones. Some roofs have crowsteps at one or both ends of the ridge.
