Description
The property comprises a pair of ornate wrought-iron carriage gates, probably dating to around 1900, and two plain, square, harled gatepiers from around 1950. The gates are similar to a pair located at the West Lodge entrance of Altyre Estate. They were brought from Gordonstoun circa 1950, an estate previously owned by the Gordon Cumming family of Altyre until that time. The gates were likely installed during the period when Sir William and Lady (Florence) Gordon Cumming were undertaking significant new building work on both estates around the turn of the century. Manachy Lodge itself, designed by A and W Reid in 1864 with later additions, is not included as part of this listing. Information provided by Altyre Estates was used in compiling these details.
