Description
Tynehead Station is a single-storey L-plan former railway station built around 1840, which has been remodeled into a house. The building features coursed sandstone with dressed ashlar surrounds, long and short quoins, and a base course.
On the southwest elevation, which is the principal facade, the L-plan design includes two advanced bays on the left. There is a glazed door on the outer left with a later two-pane fanlight above it, and a window to the right with a replacement surround. The longer right portion of the elevation has three symmetrically placed windows.
The northeast elevation has a base course and three rectangular windows with slightly projecting surrounds. The southeast elevation was not visible as of 2000.
The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows set high into the eaves and a replacement 15-pane glazed door. The roof is piended and covered with grey slate, featuring metal roll ridging, overhanging eaves, and brick stacks with stone neck copes and cans. The rainwater goods have been replaced. The interior was not seen as of 2000.
