Description

Plockton Station is an 1897 building constructed for the Highland Railway, designed by engineer Murdoch Paterson. It is an L-shaped, single-storey timber-framed station. The walls are vertically boarded. The platform elevation features a projecting west gabled bay with a tripartite window, while the recessed section has bipartite windows. The station has panelled doors and a slate roof. Cast-iron columns with Corinthian capitals support decorative brackets and a canopy. Reference is made to John Hume’s The Industrial Archaeology of Scotland II (1977), page 290.
