Gatepiers, Manse, Tongue

The Manse in Tongue is an 1841-42 L-plan house that stands two storeys high with a dormerless attic. It features an entrance in the southeast re-entrant angle and a symmetrical three-bay west elevation, highlighted by a centrally projecting gabled bay. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. A bowed single-storey porch is located in the southeast re-entrant angle, and the outer first-floor windows on the west facade have gabletted pediments. The attic windows are small and symmetrical, and the glazing is primarily 12-pane. The roof has ridge and end corniced stacks, which are set diagonally on square bases, and features crowsteps. The roof is covered with West Highland slate.

The steading is a single-storey L-plan structure made of rubble. It has a loft entrance in the south gable, horizontal air vents, and crowsteps. The roofs are made of local and West Highland slate with simple pyramidal caps. The walls are coped rubble, and there is a pedestrian entrance with granite rounded coping and square dressed granite gate piers.
