51 and 53 Grant Street, Inverness

51-57 Grant Street is a classical tenement and shops built between 1821 and 1850. It is two stories tall with an attic and features a distinctive bowed corner bay on an acute-angled junction site. The building is made of red sandstone laid in courses. On the northeast side, there are three windows and four doors on the ground floor, with four windows on the first floor. The bowed corner bay has a piended roof. Architectural details include raised ashlar margins, a banded string course, and a banded eaves course. The roof, covered in grey slate, has three small piended dormers. The three-bay elevation facing Upper Kessock Street includes the lower section of a wallhead chimney stack at the first bay, and to the right, there are square-plan, capped sandstone gatepiers that lead to a courtyard at the rear.

The interior, as observed in 2016, has been reconfigured. The main staircase at 57 Grant Street features a scrolled timber handrail.
