Description
The gateway to Kelvingrove Park, designed by architect Charles Wilson around 1855, features an ashlar balustrade with regular square stone piers along the south side of the Park Terrace carriageway. This balustrade leads from the monumental stairway at the northern end of Park Terrace, where it transitions to cast-iron railings that continue opposite Park Quadrant. The gateway itself is a significant structure at Lord Roberts' statue, consisting of nine main gatepiers arranged symmetrically, complete with cast-iron gates and decorative lamp brackets.
