48 Victoria Crescent Road, Dowanhill, Glasgow

44 Victoria Crescent Road is a terrace of eight houses built around 1859-60. The terrace consists of three-storey, six-bay terminal pavilions and features two storeys, attics, and a basement. The exterior is made of painted ashlar stone, with the stone cleaned at No 46.

The entrance includes steps that extend over the basement, leading to a tripartite pilastered doorpiece on the left, which has a glazed fanlight set in a ramped corniced architrave. All windows are architraved, with those at the pavilions featuring consoles and cornices. The sash windows have four-pane glazing. There is a band course above the ground floor and a string course at the second-floor cills of the pavilions. The main cornice is plain, and there is a balustraded parapet. The chimney stacks are corniced, with some featuring octagonal cans. The roofs are slate with irregular dormers, and the roof balustrade has die pedestals.

The western flank is finished in droved ashlar with a band course above the ground floor. The eastern flank facing Victoria Crescent Place has painted ashlar and maintains the three-bay details of the terrace, although the first-floor windows are not consoled. The rear elevation is made of coursed rubble, with dormers present at No 50. There are cast-iron railings leading to the steps and basement, some of which are modern.
