Description
205 Bath Street in Glasgow is a building designed by Robert Black, begun in 1839. It is a fragment of a planned terrace block that was intended to match the even-numbered properties at Nos 202-208. The structure has three storeys and a basement, constructed from ashlar stone, with Nos 205 and 207 painted and channelled at the ground floor.
The corner block features three bays and five return bays on Douglas Street. It is adorned with Corinthian tetrastyle pilasters that rise through the first and second floors on both Bath Street and Douglas Street, alongside a plain two-bay addition on Douglas Street. A Greek Doric portico is present on Bath Street, and there is a balustraded parapet that has since been filled in. Nos 203 and 205 each have three bays with segmental heads above the doorways. Additionally, there are cast-iron railings and a lamp standard.
