3 Cleveden Crescent, Kelvinside, Glasgow

2 Cleveden Crescent in Kelvinside, Glasgow, is a classical symmetrical terrace of three-bay houses designed by architect John Burnet Snr in 1876. It features a six-bay central pavilion at Nos 8 and 9, with similarly detailed seven-bay terminal pavilions at Nos 1 Cleveden Crescent and 61 Cleveden Drive. The building is constructed from polished ashlar stone, which is channelled at the ground level.

The crescent is arranged on a steeply sloping site around an elliptical garden, with a mews lane located at the rear, all of which are included in the listing. The terrace consists of two storeys and an attic, with steps leading up to a solid parapet that oversails the basement, leading to a tripartite doorpiece with glazed sidelights. The double-leaf doors open into a vestibule with glazed fanlight and feature good leaded glass panels at No 14.

On the ground floor, there are corniced canted windows with three front lights, while the first floor has five single light windows with plate glass sashes. Architectural details include a disc band over the ground floor, a cill course to the first floor, and a string course over the lintels. The main cornice is plain, and there is a die balustrade at the parapet. The building has tall corniced axial stacks and tunnel dormers located behind the parapet. It adjoins 61 Cleveden Drive to the west and 1 Cleveden Crescent to the east.

The rear elevations are finished in coursed stugged ashlar with single light windows and scrolled wallhead stacks. The gardens are enclosed by coursed ashlar boundary and retaining walls topped with polished coping. There are pairs of gatepiers, which are rusticated at the base with polished top sections, some of which support cast-iron lamp brackets.

A low ashlar retaining wall surrounds the gardens, with gatepiers leading to the carriageway and Cleveden Crescent Lane (South Numbers). The lane features a stugged coursed ashlar boundary wall and includes a mews range of single-storey and attic cottages at Nos 8, 16, 19, and 20.
