1 Queen's Crescent, Glasgow

4 Queen's Crescent in Glasgow is a classical curved terrace designed by architect John Bryce in 1840. The terrace is divided by Melrose Street and is arranged around a D-shaped garden. It features a 5-bay flank to 106 West Princes Street and consists of two storeys with attics and a basement, along with three-storey, 5-bay terminal pavilions.

The building is constructed of ashlar stone, with the basement droved and the ground floor channelled, while most of the exterior is painted. There are steps that oversail the basement leading to shallow Roman Doric engaged pillar doorways. The terminal pavilions have Roman Doric columnar porches. The main entrance includes a recessed tripartite door with pilastered jambs, sidelights, and fanlights. Most upper windows are architraved, although many have been chiselled off, and the first-floor windows are corniced. The pavilion windows on the first floor are aproned and feature bracketted pediments.

The sash windows primarily have plate glass glazing, with some featuring small-pane glazing. There are band and string courses between the floors, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course, with a plain parapet at the pavilions. An intermittent pierced roof balustrade is present, with dormers located behind. The building has axial stacks with plain flues and slate roofs.

The return elevation at 106 West Princes Street consists of 5 bays, detailed similarly to the pavilions. Decorative cast-iron railings are present at the basement and steps, though some are modern. Number 5 features a coloured leaded glass door. Inside, the plasterwork is in good condition, with corniced ceiling work noted in No. 14.
