Description
The Manse of Bargeddie Parish Church, designed by W and R S Ingram in 1876, is a Gothic-style building located on Manse Road in Bargeddie, Glasgow. The church features a spire and is accompanied by a detached hall to the east, a manse, and a lodge to the west. All structures are constructed from snecked pink ashlar with slate roofs.
The church has a gabled south front that includes a large traceried window and an entrance tower on the left, which fronts the side aisle. There is an inset belfry stage at the front of the stone spire, which lacks pinnacles. The church has complex roofs to the north, covering the canted transepts, chancel, and a projecting baptistry. Some of the windows are leaded, and the church contains an organ by Willis of London, with a gallery that extends along three sides.
The manse is a large two-storey building with a gabled roof and plain barge-boards. It features a two-storey canted window facing west and sash windows. The lodge also has plain barge-boards and sash windows, with a jerkin roof on the west gable and a tripartite arrangement in the advanced south gable, which includes a porch alongside. The hall may have originally been an earlier church and has a simple rectangular plan, with a hood-moulded stepped three-light window in the buttressed south gable and a porch on the west flank. The perimeter walls are stepped to follow the slope, with piers at intervals along the south, square gatepiers, and cast-iron gates.
