7 Bowmont Terrace, Glasgow

8 Bowmont Terrace in Glasgow is a building dating from around 1880. It is part of a terrace that steps down a slope and consists of three storeys over a basement. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar stone, with a v-channelled design at the ground level, and some areas are either stone-cleaned or painted. Each house has a two-bay elevation; on the right side, there are full-height canted bay windows, while on the left, steps lead down to a wide doorway that features pilasters and a cornice, with double-leaf doors. Above the door, there is a single-light window with an architrave and a consoled cornice, along with an architraved window on the second floor. The windows are sash style with plate glass glazing. A continuous band-course runs above the ground level and at the cills of the second floor. The main cornice is plain, and there are axial stacks with slate roofs. Notably, at No 9, the bay windows have more elaborate detailing, including incised pilaster capitals and a pediment, and the flank is finished in droved ashlar.
