3 Annfield Place, Glasgow

12 Annfield Place in Glasgow is a classical terrace building constructed by 1851, following the death of John Reid, who purchased Annfield in 1838 and developed the area. This long, straight, two-storey terrace faces south and is set back from Duke Street, with a front garden area. To the east, there are detached buildings at Nos 14-16, beyond Craigpark, while only the first three houses of the originally intended identical terrace were completed. The building features polished ashlar, which is mostly painted, with a channelled ground floor and first-floor architraves linked to a band course. Each house has a three-bay window design, with the terminal houses slightly advanced and featuring a blocking course. The flanks also have a three-bay layout, and the doorways are adorned with inset recessed pilasters. The windows are plate glass sashes. Notably, Nos 1-4 and 7 have enlarged ground floor openings, and there are stacks on the roof, which is continuous and slated. The front garden area is enclosed by low stone walls, with decorative square piers at each end and modern iron railings.
