Gartloch Hospital Former Mortuary, Gartloch Road, Glasgow

Gartloch Hospital Former Mortuary is a simple, symmetrical single-storey building constructed between 1892 and 1896 by Thomas and Sandilands. It is designed in the French Renaissance style and built from red sandstone.

The principal elevation features a base course and a string course that serves as a transom, with a thin string course above the lintel and an eaves cornice. The central entrance consists of a two-leaf panelled door topped by a blind stone-arched head, set within a splayed arch that has a moulded head. The entrance bay projects above the eaves and is capped with a parapet that is bounded by finialed blocks.

The side elevation is windowless and has a central stack, with an arched moulding at the apex and grid moulding below.

The rear elevation has three bays, with the centre bay featuring a semi-circular window flanked by arched-headed tripartite windows in the outer bays.
