2 Crown Road North, Glasgow

8 Crown Road North in Glasgow is a symmetrical terrace of four houses, designed by James Thomson around 1870. Each house features three bays and stands two storeys high, with a basement and attics. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, and No 8 has been stone cleaned.

Access to the houses is via steps that oversail the basement, leading to a wide centrally placed doorway with double leaf panelled outer doors. The vestibule doors are tripartite, featuring leaded glass panels along with side and fanlights. On the ground floor, either to the right (Nos 2 and 4) or left (Nos 6 and 8), there is a projecting canted single storey window with an ashlar balustraded parapet, while No 2 has a cast-iron bombe balustrade. The remaining ground floor windows are tripartite.

On the first floor, there is a bipartite mullioned window above the door, flanked by tripartite windows, all of which have roll moulded architraves. The windows are sash with plate glass glazing. Additional architectural details include a band course above the ground floor and a string course at the first floor cills. The terrace is topped with a mutule cornice and features a die-and-balustrade parapet with irregular dormers, some of which are piended. The roofs are slate, and there are corniced axial stacks.
