42 Westbourne Gardens West, Glasgow

45 Westbourne Gardens West is a terrace of six houses built around 1875. The terrace consists of two-bay houses that rise three storeys, with attics and a basement. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar stone, with the basement in droved stone, and some parts are either stone cleaned or painted.

Access to the houses is via steps that extend over the basement, leading to doorways that feature architraved, consoled, and corniced designs. The doors have glazed side panels and fanlights. Above each door, there is a window that is also architraved, consoled, and corniced. To the right of the entrance, a two-storey, three-light canted bay window extends from the basement. The second-floor windows are architraved and have bracketed cills. The houses feature sash windows with plate glass glazing, while No 47 has leaded upper sashes. A continuous band course runs above the ground floor, and there is a string course at the lintels of the second-floor windows.

The end houses have a mutule cornice, while the others have a plain cornice. The end houses also feature individual piended platform roofs and dormers. The houses have axial stacks and slate roofs.

The flanks of the terrace display similar architectural details. The rear is finished in droved ashlar and mainly features four-pane glazing. There are various types of cast-iron railings leading to the steps and basement, some of which are modern. Notably, No 47 has a good leaded glass vestibule door.
