Smithy, Station Road, Kingsbarns

This property, located on Station Road, Kingsbarns, comprises a house incorporating a former smithy. The house was initially built as a single-story, two-window structure with a central door in 1831, and subsequently raised to two stories in 1861, as indicated by a date at the skew-end. The house is constructed of droved squared rubble and retains its original glazing. The rear features crowstepped gables, and the roof is slated. The original smithy, dated 1834, is a single-story building with a droved ashlar gable front. This gable features an incised cross containing pigeon inlets within the attic space, and a smaller gable section is attached to the east. The entire structure was reconstructed in 1971.
