Description
Smithy House is a house originally built as a single-storey, two-window structure with a central door in 1831. It was extended to two storeys in 1861, as indicated by a date at the skew-end. The construction is of droved squared rubble. Original windows with their glazing remain, and the rear features crowstepped gables covered in slate.
A separate smithy, dated 1834, stands nearby. It is a single-storey building with a droved ashlar gable front. This gable features an incised cross containing pigeon inlets in the attic. A smaller gable section is present on the east side. The smithy was reconstructed in 1971. The statutory address for Smithy House incorporates the former smithy at Station Road.
