Description
The site of a former churchyard at Tulliallan features an early chapel and is situated on a raised knoll, surrounded by rubble boundary walls. It contains many fine 17th and 18th century carved gravestones, as well as a rectangular mausoleum built in 1830 for the Keith family.
The mausoleum, dated 1830, is a simplified version of the Mar Mausoleum at Alloa, likely designed by James Gillespie Graham. It is a rectangular Gothic structure with buttresses, constructed from finely stugged ashlar with polished dressings, margins, and buttresses. The south gable has a pointed arch doorway with a hoodmould and a studded timber door. There is a small lancet window at the gable head, also with a hoodmould featuring mask label stops. The mausoleum has buttressed blind flanks, an eaves cornice, and chunky crowstepped gables, though the slate roof is partially collapsed.
Inside, there are memorial tablets and slabs dedicated to the Keith family.
