Description

The Pineapple at Dunmore Park is a notable building dated 1761 for the bothy ranges and around 1771 for the pineapple crown. It features two-storey bothy ranges that are harled with ashlar dressings. The garden front has six windows on the upper storey and a loggia at the ground outer elevation, with a folly at the center. This two-stage folly includes a pedimented classical loggia at the ground level facing the garden, and an octagonal upper stage that is flanked by the bothy ranges. The upper stage has Gothick windows and is topped with an elaborate pineapple crown made of masonry, complete with exuberant fronces and a finial, which is situated at the head of a large walled garden.
