Description
The Gatepiers of Slamannan Parish Church, built in 1810, are part of a tall, rectangular-plan, symmetrical gabled church constructed from random rubble with raised margins. Access is provided by steps leading to a panelled timber entrance door on the west elevation, which features a fanlight above. There is a single window above the entrance and a birdcage bellcote at the gable apex that houses a bell from 1722. The church has rectangular window openings on all elevations, with a pair of larger window openings at the center of the south elevation. Notable features include a bronze sundial and a carved inscription on the south elevation.
The church predominantly features 6-over-6 timber sash and case windows, with some colored glass. The roof is covered with grey slate and has raised skews, along with a wallhead stack.
Adjacent to the church is a session house built around 1850, which has a square plan and a piended roof, constructed from rubble. It includes a timber entrance door and plate-glass timber sash and case windows.
The churchyard surrounds the church and extends to the east and northeast, containing a variety of gravestones, some of which feature sculpted decorations.
A coped rubble wall encloses the churchyard to the north, south, east, and west, and includes a pair of tall pyramidal-capped gatepiers, with the one on the left being truncated.
