30 West Holmes Gardens, Musselburgh

56 West Holmes Gardens in Musselburgh is a terrace of houses built around 1900 by William Constable. The terrace features a mix of two-storey and single-storey houses with attics. It has a ridge slate roof adorned with red ridge tiles and red ashlar stone, which includes a band course at the first-floor level that connects the wide bracketed eaves of the lower parts. The design includes projecting gables with pierced barge boards, king post motifs, and timber finials, although only one finial remains. Below the gables are two-storey canted bays, and there are two square, two-light dormers with gablets that resemble the gables. One dormer has a bipartite window beneath it, while the other has two doors below. The original windows were sash windows with small panes in the upper sashes only, but many have been reglazed with single panes. The terrace also has brick return and rear walls.
