Description
The Carriage House at Redcoll, built around 1824, is a two-storey, three-bay classical structure. It is constructed from squared and snecked whinstone rubble, featuring contrasting droved sandstone ashlar dressings. The central bay is advanced and has a pediment that breaks the eaves. At the ground floor, there is a segmental carriage arch and a window above, both fitted with wooden doors. To the left, there is an enlarged garage opening, and to the right, a doorway with a 9-pane strip fanlight. The first floor has additional windows, while the sides and rear of the building are blank, with a lean-to on the left side. The windows are casement style with lying-pane glazing, and the piended roof is covered with purple fish-scale slates. A dragon weathervane adorns the top of the building.
