Description
Skeldon House is a late 18th century classical building constructed with ashlar and pink stone dressings. The facade features sash windows, with a slight pedimented projection at the center. The house has two storeys and a raised basement, with the principal floor windows framed by architrave surrounds and entablatures, while the upper windows have simple surrounds. It has a low parapet and a moulded cornice, topped by a hipped roof with a pair of chimneys symmetrically placed at the center. A recent porch addition features a domed roof and a curved Ionic colonnade, accessed by a wide flight of entrance stairs. The side elevations have splayed bays in the center that extend to full height, with a balustraded parapet. At the rear, a glazed winter garden projects from the principal floor, leading down to the garden via a flight of double steps.
