Description
Craigengillan is an 18th century house originally known as Berbeth. It was enlarged in the early 19th century and later romanticised with the addition of crowstepped gables. A glazed Gothic arcaded porch extends along the front, and a tall battlemented tower was built at the side, possibly by David Hamilton. The interior features exceptional work by Jansen of Paris from 1902, particularly in the main hall, stair drawing room, boudoir, and morning room, which are designed around a particularly fine French Aubusson Verdure Tapestry from around 1700.
