Description

52, 54, 56 Reform Street in Dundee is a building designed by George Angus in 1832, following a layout by William Burn from 1824. This three-storey and attic structure features a classical design and houses shops, offices, and flats arranged in two sections of nine symmetrical bays. The building is constructed of painted ashlar with a concealed slate roof. The ground floor is pilastered and has a balustrade, although the pilasters and balustrade have been removed from No 58. There is a cill band at the second floor and a dentilled, corniced balustraded parapet, with the balustrade also removed from Nos 46-58. The first-floor windows are architraved, while the second-floor windows are plain; originally, they featured a 12-pane timber sash and case glazing pattern, but some have been altered to 2- and 4-pane styles. The building includes piended dormers and a fluted Ionic-columned distyle in antis doorpiece at the centre bay of each section. Corniced axial stacks are present on the roof. The interior has not been seen.
