Description

5 Ellerslie in Powfoot is a brick-built row of four identical double villas, designed by Frank C Carruthers of Lockerbie and Dumfries in 1900. Each villa is symmetrically arranged and consists of a single storey with paired wallhead attic gables and bipartites in the outer bays. Each house features three bays with a central door. The villas are constructed from red bricks, with red ashlar cills and lintels, and panels below the eaves made of terra-cotta tiles. They also have decorative cornices, skews, corniced end stacks, and slate roofs with red ridging tiles. The blocks are linked by low glazed porches.
