Description
The Pump Cottage in Chapelton is an early 20th-century, two-storey, three-bay symmetrical house, likely part of the building programme for the Knockbrex estate. It is constructed from rock-faced coursed whinstone. The central entrance features a round-arched door with a fanlight above it. The outer bays have segmental arched windows with timber mullions and small-pane glazing. Above the door, there is a four-pane oculus. The end bays are gabled, showcasing plain bargeboards and a timber finial. The roof is covered with slate, and there are corniced stacks at the ends.
The rear elevation has similar detailing, with most of the glazing being plate glass. The outer gabled bays flank an advanced two-storey flat-roofed projecting bay that is of contemporary date.
