Description
3 High Street in Kirkcudbright is a pair of terraced houses built in the late 18th or early 19th century. The buildings are two stories tall, with a basement and attic, and feature four bays. They are painted, lined, and rendered with margins. The houses have a plinth and two central doors that include fanlights. Above the doors is a doorpiece supported by three engaged, fluted columns with stylized acanthus capitals, which hold up a pediment. The glazing in the windows of No 3 is original, while No 5 has been altered. No 3 has an original dormer, while No 5 features a piended, canted dormer. Both houses have brick end stacks and a slate roof.
In the garden, there is a gazebo dated 1809. This circular garden house is made of brick and has red sandstone lintels, topped with a conical slate roof.
