Description

120 Trinity Road in Edinburgh is a terrace of eight plain classical houses, attributed to Thomas Brown and J Dick Peddie, built around 1858, with some parts dating back to before 1826. The houses are two stories tall and feature two bays, arranged in pairs that step up the hill. The ground floors are finished in channelled sandstone, while the upper sections are made of ashlar above a cill band course at the first floor. The side and rear elevations are constructed from coursed rubble, and there is an eaves course with stone mullions.

The principal elevation features the houses grouped in mirrored pairs, with doors located centrally and bipartite windows in the outer bays. Each house has a timber panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, set within stone Doric pilastered doorpieces topped with cornices. Notably, No 120 has a wooden pitch-roofed porch that partially masks its entrance.

Both the north and south elevations have M-gabled roofs. The windows in Nos 126, 128, and 130 have a four-pane glazing pattern, while Nos 120, 122, 124, 132, and 134 feature plate glass, all set in timber sash and case windows. The roofs are grey-slated M-roofs, with stone-coped mutual skews and stone-coped gablehead stacks that have circular cans.
