Belltower, St Andrew's Church (Church of Scotland), 17-19 (Odd Nos) Clermiston View, Edinburgh

St Andrew's Church, a Church of Scotland building located at 17-19 Clermiston View in Edinburgh, was designed by Basil Spence & Partners and constructed between 1954 and 1958, with a later addition to the north. This aisle-less nave and gabled church features an ancillary wing to the north and a tripod belltower to the south. The church is set around a courtyard and built into the slope of a hill, with rubble retaining walls, boundary walls, and steps to the west. The exterior consists of rendered, cavity brick walls, with the gables primarily made of squared, recycled rubble, and a pitched roof covered with Ballachulish slate.

The entrance elevation of the church is gabled, featuring central timber double doors under a canopy and seven clerestory lights that follow the line of the gable. To the left of the entrance gable is an advanced single-storey and basement ancillary wing, linked by a glazed corridor. To the right of the gable is an L-plan canopied walkway that leads to a four-staged concrete and steel open-frame tripod belltower, which is topped with a cross and ball. The nave has square windows, and the east gable of the church is slightly canted.

The interior, as seen in 2000, has an irregular-polygonal plan with a timber-lined ceiling and plastered walls. At the east end, there is a raised triangular platform with timber liturgical furniture, including a triangular communion table that matches the platform, and a large timber cross mounted on the rubble wall. Natural light enters through 22 windows on both side walls, and lights are suspended from the ceiling by wires. An organ loft is located at the rear. The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls, which include steps at the center.
