Description

6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Brandon Terrace is a pair of four-storey tenement blocks built in 1877-78, designed to step down the slope. Each block features a continuous podium of ground floor shops, which are mostly original and retain their unaltered entablature. Notably, number 4 has a later segmentally arched and keyblocked bank doorpiece of high quality. The upper floors are faced with ashlar stone and include a canted bay with three windows and another canted bay with two windows. The margins of all floors have moulded arrises, and there is a string course at the third floor. The second and third floors have corbelled cills, and the canted bays feature a cornice at the second floor level, with a main cornice and a slated roof above.
