East Cottages, 111 Lower Granton Road, Edinburgh

East Cottages, located at 110 Lower Granton Road in Edinburgh, were built around 1848-49 and consist of a two-storey terrace featuring one two-bay cottage and two three-bay cottages. The cottages have piended dormers that break the eaves on the upper floor of the main facade. The structure is primarily made of brick, with No 111 painted red, and has stone dressings, including stone sills for the windows and ashlar coping on the gable ends.

On the principal (north) elevation, the central entrances to Nos 111 and 112 are flanked by windows, with piended dormers above featuring stone lintels. No 110 has a similar arrangement, though only the left window bay belongs to this property. All doors have four-pane rectangular fanlights, with replacement timber doors; No 110 has a panelled door, while No 111 has a boarded door.

The rear (south) elevation of Nos 110 and 111 is painted white, while No 112 adjoins 1 Wardie Square. The upper floors of Nos 110 and 111 have smaller windows. The east and west elevations are blank and harled.

The principal elevation features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the rear mainly has four-pane casements. The cottages have a grey slate roof with gable stacks at both ends, the western stack being rendered, and two ridge stacks at the center with round cans.

The interiors were not inspected in 1997.
