114 Wardie Cottages, Lower Granton Road, Edinburgh

113 Wardie Cottages, located on Lower Granton Road in Edinburgh, date from around 1855 and consist of a single storey and attic, forming a terrace of six two-bay cottages. The cottages are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature stone sills beneath the windows.

On the north elevation, the cottages display alternating reversed plans. Each cottage has an entrance and a single window on the ground floor, with two windows on the first floor. The entrances include boarded timber doors for Nos 113, 114, 117, and 118, a four-panel timber door for No 116, and a replacement door for No 115. Each entrance is topped with a rectangular fanlight, mostly with four panes. There is a cast iron bootscraper with a brick recess beside the entrance of each cottage, except between Nos 116 and 117 and at No 118.

The south elevation features two-storey catslide extensions with paired dormers at the rear of all cottages except Nos 114 and 116. The east and west elevations are blank and harled.

The cottages have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, except for No 115, which has fixed single panes with small top-hung casements above and various replacement windows in the rear extensions. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with three brick ridge stacks featuring stone coping, one at each internal divide between the cottages.

The interiors were not inspected in 1997.
