Description

26 Wardie Square is a terrace of seven two-storey, two-bay cottages built around 1855. The cottages are constructed of brick with dressed stone detailing and feature stone sills on the windows.

On the south (entrance) elevation, the cottages have alternating reversed plans. Each cottage has an entrance and a single window on the ground floor, with two windows above, all spaced evenly. The doors to Nos 28, 29, and 30 are boarded timber, while the other cottages have a variety of door replacements, most of which include three-pane rectangular fanlights.

The north (rear) elevation features single-storey service outshots, maintaining their original pitched-roof design, with enclosed yards for Nos 24, 28, and 29, while the rest have modern extensions. The rear is harled, except for Nos 24, 29, and 30. Each cottage has paired windows on the first floor, with the windows for No 30 being wider.

The east and west elevations are blank, with the east elevation being harled. The cottages mainly have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while Nos 25 and 27 have single and two-pane PVCu windows, respectively. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, featuring three coped ridge stacks and a harled wallhead stack on the east (No 30) with round cans.

The interiors have not been inspected since 1997.
