Description

9 Succoth Gardens is a Grade B listed house in Edinburgh, designed by T Duncan Rhind around 1900. This Arts and Crafts style home features a rectangular plan with harled walls and a red-tiled roof. It has overhanging eaves with decorative bargeboards and dormers.

On the southeast elevation, there is an advanced gabled bay to the right. The entrance door, located to the left of this bay, has a 2-pane fanlight above it and is flanked by a band of windows that extend around the corners. Above, a tripartite window is situated on the first floor, while a bipartite window is centered on the ground floor. There is also a bipartite dormer with a curvilinear head breaking the eaves at the center, and a flat-roofed dormer positioned high to the right. An angle turret on the left features two narrow, widely spaced windows at ground level and a centered window on the first floor above.

The southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, has the angle turret on the right, with similar fenestration as the southeast elevation, plus an additional centered window on the first floor. There is a window set to the left of center on the ground floor, and a tall, tapered wallhead stack. To the left, an advanced gabled bay opens at ground level, forming a porch supported by four wooden posts, with a balustrade at the top. Above the porch, there is a centered bipartite window, and a blank bay is located at the outer left.

The house features timber-framed casement windows with a small pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there are tall, harled, tapered wallhead stacks with access ladders at the center of each side elevation, topped with tall terracotta cans. The property also includes painted cast-iron rainwater goods.
