Description
This is a two-story, L-shaped former stable block and coach house, dating to circa 1845 and circa 1885, and converted into a dwelling house between 1972 and 1982. The structure is composed of interconnecting blocks of varying heights. The South elevation features a prominent M-gabled section (circa 1880) with a timber panelled door at the centre and a variety of window sizes. A slightly later, single-storey, piend-roofed block is set to the outer right of this range, featuring a timber boarded door and a single window.
The West elevation is divided into three sections. A central gable is topped with a gablehead stack and a decorative cartouche frame containing a central oculus window, embellished with scrolled acanthus and shells. To the right is a slightly recessed two-story section with a single window on the ground floor and a shouldered stack at the wallhead. A single-storey section to the left has a single window and a timber panelled loft door at the gablehead of its northern return.
The North elevation and courtyard are characterised by a central gable. Twentieth-century windows and stonework replace the original coach entrance at ground level. A piend-roofed section is located to the left, with a window and timber boarded door. An advanced section to the right of the central gable has a twentieth-century, timber panelled door and porch facing north, with a gable to the eastern return displaying windows on both floors and a gablehead stack. A single-storey block to the outer right forms an arm of the L-shape, and contains a pair of two-leaf timber boarded coach-house doors with strap hinges between a slim central pier on the East elevation.
The windows are predominantly timber sash and case, with 12-pane glazing, though the West elevation has 4-pane glazing. Coped stacks are present, and one red clay can survives. The roof is covered with graded grey slate.
The garden contains several pieces of decorative stone work, including a large urn stand.
