Description

The gardens at Drummond Place in Edinburgh date from the early 19th century and feature railings that enclose U-shaped gardens. The railings consist of saddleback ashlar copes topped with fluted cast-iron railings, which are flanked by shorter railings. The west elevation and the northwest and southwest corners are adorned with fleur-de-lis and quasi-Maltese Cross finials. The remaining sections of the gardens have modern rectilinear-patterned railings, which are set diagonally to the street in the central panels. A round-arched cast-iron gate is positioned at the center of the west elevation, decorated with a honeysuckle motif and a rampant lion medallion at the top, and it includes a lamp bracket above. The area surrounding the railings at the north and south sides features whin chip paving with glazed brick kerbs.
